What does a smart-glasses companion phone do?
The phone can provide the app, account connections, internet access and the link to the glasses. It may also process speech or other application data. In E1O's published product experience, the phone app connects services and manages the experience.
A phone is more than a pairing remote
Pairing introduces the devices to each other. Normal use may continue to rely on the phone for every new request. For example, a display card can arrive through the companion app even though you never touch the screen. Call that hands-free use, but we would not describe it as phone-independent use.
A simple task map helps: glasses capture input, phone handles the connected service, glasses show the result. Your particular app may divide the work differently. The important question is whether removing the phone breaks the task you care about, not whether the initial setup wizard has already finished.
