What should I check before resetting smart glasses?

Identify the last working stage: power, device discovery, app connection, local input/output or the remote service. Resetting immediately can erase useful state without addressing the failing stage.

Start with a small local action

Our first diagnostic choice is a simple operation that does not need a remote service, when the product supports one. If that works, the device path is at least partly functioning. If a new online request then fails, investigate that additional dependency before disturbing the working connection.

Write down the exact symptom before changing settings. "The app discovers the frame, but a local text card never appears" is useful. "Nothing works" conceals the successful discovery stage. Preserve relevant version information and follow the product's documented recovery steps rather than inventing a reset sequence.

A short sequence that narrows the fault

Change one condition at a time. A factory reset can remove useful state while leaving a service or permissions problem untouched.

  1. Confirm power and whether the glasses respond to their own controls.
  2. Open the companion app and check its device connection, not just the phone’s Bluetooth list.
  3. Try a simple supported local action. If that succeeds, the basic display or audio path is working.
  4. Try the failing connected feature with internet available. Note whether the app receives a result.
  5. Repeat with the phone locked if that is when the problem occurs. Record the versions and exact failure before following the manufacturer’s reset procedure.
