Does Meta Ray-Ban Display replace a smartphone?

It can move some interactions into the glasses, but its documented setup still requires a supported phone and the Meta AI app. Reducing phone checks is different from removing the phone from the system.

Count the handoffs that remain

Look at a day's ordinary tasks: starting the device, connecting services, handling a complex reply and recovering from a problem. Some are convenient on a wearable; others may send you to the phone. The useful question is whether those handoffs fit your routine.

If your aim is to keep the phone in a pocket during a short exchange, a connected wearable can still meet it. If your aim is to leave the phone at home, you need feature-level evidence for that condition. Those are different purchase requirements even though both sound like less phone use.
