What is the difference between live captions and live translation in glasses?
Live captions turn speech into readable text. Live translation changes the language of the message. A product may offer both, but support for a language in one mode does not automatically establish support in the other. Meta Ray-Ban Display documents captions and translation as distinct features.
Read the mode as well as the language list
English speech appearing as English text is captioning. English speech appearing as Spanish text adds translation. Some products use broader labels such as translated captions, so the useful distinction is what happens to the original language and where the output appears.
If your goal is to follow a speaker in your own language, captions may be sufficient. If the speaker uses another language, you need the appropriate translation direction. Identify that requirement before comparing headline language counts.
