Are all smart glasses augmented reality?
No. Audio or camera glasses can perform useful electronic tasks without adding imagery to your view. Even among display glasses, a simple information panel and an object placed in a room require different capabilities.
The label covers several experiences
Ask how the digital content relates to the surroundings. Does it follow the wearer, behave like a virtual monitor, or remain beside a physical object? That answer is more useful than arguing over whether a manufacturer uses the term AR broadly or narrowly.
A spoken weather answer has no visual placement. A weather card can follow your head. A virtual thermometer attached to a real wall needs a spatial relationship with that wall. Each could appear in a smart-glasses demonstration, but the application and tracking requirements are different.
