What does 6DoF add to smart glasses?
Six degrees of freedom combines rotation with position changes along three axes. The system can respond when you lean, step sideways or move closer, as well as when you turn your head.
Position makes a different kind of scene possible
A virtual object can appear to occupy a location that you move around. We would still separate tracking capability from the quality of a particular application: a stable-looking object also depends on how the software creates and maintains its reference to the environment. The 6DoF label does not specify every detail of that behavior.
Picture a virtual note beside a real monitor. Leaning toward it should change the viewpoint in a way consistent with its position. Returning later and finding it in the same place introduces another question about persistent anchors. Position tracking during a session does not automatically establish persistence across sessions.
