Is the waveguide itself the screen in smart glasses?
It is part of the display's optical system. The image source generates the picture, while the waveguide transports that light to the wearer. Calling the whole assembly a screen is convenient, but it hides the components when you need to understand a specification.
A display result belongs to an assembly
Ask which light engine and waveguide produced a quoted result. A property measured with one combination should not be assumed for another source or mounting arrangement. The complete image depends on how the parts work together.
A phone notification becomes a rendered image before the optics deliver it to the eye. If the wrong text appears, investigate the application. If the correct image is difficult to receive from a normal wearing position, investigate the optical assembly and fit. Replacing the word screen with named components makes the diagnosis more precise.
