Does higher display resolution guarantee sharper text in glasses?
No. The visible angle matters as well as the pixel count. Pixels per degree describes angular sampling; optics, contrast, rendering and fit also affect what the wearer can read.
Put the pixel count into angular context
For a hypothetical horizontal comparison, 600 pixels across 20 degrees averages 30 pixels per degree. A 1,080-pixel image across 60 degrees averages 18. The second has more pixels overall but fewer for each degree of view. This simple calculation assumes even distribution and does not measure optical sharpness at the edges.
Use that calculation to interpret specifications, then compare actual text at a similar apparent size. Keep horizontal, vertical and diagonal values separate. A number from one axis divided by an angle from another produces a tidy-looking result that does not describe the intended sampling.
Calculate angular sampling on the same axis
For this simplified comparison, divide horizontal pixel count by horizontal field of view. The figures below are invented examples with uniform sampling, not specifications for a product.
